Hardanger, Blackwork,
Pulled and Drawn Thread and Samplers are
needlework techniques that
are worked on evenweave fabrics in
which the threads are counted and the designs worked from a graph.
These are sometimes grouped as counted thread techniques.
Stumpwork,
Goldwork, Brazilian Embroidery
and Mountmellick Embroidery are worked
on a background fabric where counting threads is not required. The
design is marked on the background fabric from a pattern.
Beads can be found
everywhere; worked into most types of needlework, on their own beaded
together with off-loom stitches such as Peyote
Stitch Beading and onto
fabric as Bead Embroidery.
Complete directions are included
with graphs and/or patterns, stitch diagrams, comprehensive text and clear close-up color
photos. Each design is available as a
packet of directions (chart pack) or a kit that also
contains fabric, threads, beads, etc. to complete the
design. Frames, boxes hardware and finishing supplies are not included
in the kits.
