Native to a community in Ireland, Mountmellick
embroidery is a whitework tecnique not counted, but worked on a heavy
white fabric with perle cotton or a heavier white thread such as DMC
Coton a Broder®. It usually depicts flora in a realistic and
dimensional manner. French knots and boullion knots are
common. Leaves are less realistic with fillings of a great variety
of stitches. |
